Our March meeting will bring Judi Miller to do a Trunk Show and a Workshop. Her workshop is full, which is awesome. The Shop of the Month is returning and this month is Flair with Fabrics from Chesterville. Looking forward to that. There will be tickets to buy on a raffle basket of quilting supplies, so bring money. Money is also due for anyone who has signed up for the Spring Retreat. We have some vacant positions to fill for September, if you feel you can make a difference or enjoy helping out, talk to our Past President, Carol Darou. Our Vice-President is going to start asking for items for our Fall Sale. As our Quilts on the Tay has been postponed until July 2018, we thought an extra Fall Sale would help get us through. And lots of other stuff to do, take a book from the Library, check out the Block of the Month table, sign up for a workshop. C
Our January meeting was postponed until February 7th due to bad weather, and our February Meeting was cancelled due to renovations at the Lions Hall, so February 7th became our winter meeting. This month was the showing of the President’s Challenge. The winner of the Viewer’s Choice was Alexis Mongeau. You can view all the entrants on our Facebook page. We received thank you cards from LAWS & The Table for donations made at our November 2016 meeting. We also received a thank you from CAARS for quilts donated to refugee families. Block of the Month showed a Bow Tie block for this month. Library has started a Tool Library to add to the Books and Magazines. Our Vice President, Nijole reported on the success of the November Fall Sale and is getting ready for the next Fall Sale on November 4th, 2017. C
Our Spring Retreat for 2017 is April 5 – 7th at the McIntosh Inn in Morrisburg. There are 12 people signed up at this point and payment is due at the March 2017 General Meeting. Nancy has gone ahead and booked this venue for the next few years for the Fall & Spring Retreats. UPDATE: On Wednesday, April 5, 2017, ten Guild members and two guests arrived at the McIntosh Inn for three fun-filled days of quilting. There were lots of projects started and completed, as well as sharing of ideas and opinions. The staff were very attentive. The meals were excellent and served quickly to allow us all to get back to our quilting. (Nancy Jossinet) C
Due to the weather, this meeting has been changed to February 7, 2017 at the Lion’s Hall at 1 p.m. Here we are at the beginning of a new year and The President’s Challenge to celebrate Canada’s 150th Anniversary. The quilt that wins Viewer’s Choice will be traveling with the winning quilts from other guilds to all the quilt shows in 2017 as a special display honoring the Anniversary of Canada. We will also be having Leslie Whitby, current President of the CQA, with us as Guest Speaker. The Stash Sale, that has always been held in January, is being moved to our June General Meeting. There will be more time to shop at that time. C.
