Every year the LCQG donates a quilt to an organization within Lanark County to raffle for their cause.

Outreach Quilt 2016 – 2017

The block for the Outreach Quilt will be shown at the September 2016 meeting, but the kits won’t be ready until October 2016.  You will get one month to complete, because they are hoping to present this quilt to the chosen charity in February 2017.  The quilt will be presented at the beginning of the March 2017 General Meeting to this year’s recipient, YAK.  They are an organization helping youth in our community.   C.

Outreach Quilt 2015-2016

Two projects will be done this year for Outreach:  “Fidget” quilts or touch quilts and the Outreach Quilt.  Loree is thinking of doing the Outreach quilt as a weekend in-town retreat for cutting, piecing, and assembling the quilt top and to be done in February 2016. She would like to encourage the beginner and new members to plan on joining in.  The touch quilts or QUIRKY QUILTS are also known as Sensory Quilts.  They are only 20″ X 25″ as a guideline and an insert is included in the October newsletter.  Stop by the Outreach table for information on both. 2014-15 Outreach Quilt

A picture of the new Outreach quilt will be at the September meeting and block packages ready  It is an easy block and hope many members will participate.  Help will be available at the Lion’s Club at 5:30 before the October meeting if anyone needs assistance piecing the block.  Forms will be available at the Sept. and Oct. meetings so members can nominate a local charity to receive the quilt for raffle.

The receiver of this quilt is the Hospital Foundation who will be raising money with their raffle to buy a Vital Sign Machine for the Emergency Room.

2014 Bursary

The annual student bursary of $500.00, which is given in rotation to one of the three high schools in our area (Perth & District Collegiate Institute, St. John Catholic High Scholl and Smith Falls District Collegiate Institute) is to go to St. John Catholic High School this year.  It is awarded to a graduating student who will be enrolled in an Arts or Trade program.

We are proud to be able to donate 30 quilts and one top to the cause.  Some of our members made more than one quilt.  Thanks to everyone involved.
